This is a DCJS 24-hour Handgun course that is required for PSS registered personnel to be armed while working as a security officer. The course involves topics that are essential to carry a pistol while working a security officer job in Virginia including:

• Practical Gun Handling
• Fundamentals of Marksmanship
• Dim/Lowlight Conditions
• Use of Deadly Force/Non-Deadly Force
• Civil and Criminal Liability
• Range Safety
• Malfunctions
• Cover & Concealment

Completion of this course requires attendance in all scheduled classes, participating in the practical exercises, and range qualification to show proficiency with a semi-automatic handgun or revolver.
